Chronic Bronchitis

Chronic bronchitis is defined as excessive sputum/mucus production on most days for at least three months in at least two consecutive years.

In chronic bronchitis, the bronchi (medium size airways) in the lungs are constantly irritated and inflamed, causing the lining to thicken. As a result mucus (which is normally made in the airways to keep them moist), is produced in excessive amounts which leads to cough and sputum production.

Chronic bronchitis develops slowly over time. When smoke or other irritants are inhaled, the cilia projecting from the mucous membrane lining the respiratory tract become paralyzed or snap off. Airways then become inflamed, narrowed, and clogged with mucus, making breathing difficult. A mild cough, sometimes called smokers’ cough, is usually the first symptom. Wheezing and shortness of breath may accompany the cough. As the disease advances, breathing becomes even more difficult and activity decreases.

Small airways disease

Cigarette smoking may result in structural changes in the small airways and alveoli. Cigarette smoking causes chronic inflammation in the airways and repeated cycles of inflammation and repair can lead to remodeling of the tissues of the airways resulting in airways becoming narrowed and distorted, causing resistance to airflow.

Chronic Asthma

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory condition of the airways which leads to airways obstruction which is reversible spontaneously or with treatment. However, sometimes long-standing asthma may result in permanent damage to the airways and subsequent loss of that reversibility. The end result is narrowing and distorted airways which can no longer bronchodilate fully.

How can Salt Therapy help with COPD?

Salt Therapy is a 100% natural, safe and drug-free complimentary therapy which can provide effective long-term relief for sufferers of COPD. Dry salt aerosol inhalation reduces inflammation of the airways, assists in the reduction of mucus and helps restore the body’s natural immune defenses.
As a result of the Salt Therapy treatment process, the overwhelming majority of people with different forms of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) demonstrate positive changes to their symptoms including:

  • Decrease in cough frequency and intensity
  • Changes to phlegm which becomes less viscous and easier expectoration
  • Clear mucus from the airways and facilitate the return of normal mucociliary clearance from the sinuses
  • An anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effect in the respiratory system,
  • Reduce bronchial hyper-responsiveness
  • Improve lung function
  • Assist in the removal of inhaled pollutants and allergen from the lungs and airways.

Salt Therapy is clinically proven to cleanse the respiratory system of the human body and to speed up the elimination of toxins. The size of the particles is the same as in natural Salt Caves — 1-5 ?m. These so-called breathable particles penetrate into the bronchial tree in the form of finest crystals. Dry salt aerosol works as a “bronchial brush” for the airways.
